When your career clock ticks over for forty years in education you might think that you have either been to or heard of all the various combinations of approaches to training and development that are possible. The Strategic Leadership programme run in the remarkable setting of the Millbrook Resort by the Institute for Strategic Leadership proved that I was mistaken.

With its unique and innovative combination of self-reflection, informed appraisal, testing and reporting, syndicate activity and excellent presentations over six days I was gently and, at times, not so gently led to a point where I understood with clarity the need for change in the way I worked. Using the tools I was introduced to by the programme I developed a strategic approach to making changes and return to work with a plan of action which was implemented by with the help of my team.

The results are already evident. I am continuing the coaching started on the programme – there must be no sliding back!
